ADVISORS:

ResponsibIlities:

Lead an on-site and remote team to build a local 24/7 Learning Academy microschool by establishing site-specific culture, schedules, processes, and procedures, where educators on the team will:

  • Design or customize experiential, project-based learning arcs for the class to create activities that are relevant and real-world

  • Curate individual learning experiences based on each student’s abilities, needs, and learning approach to construct and exhibit core competencies

  • Utilize dynamic instructional grouping to meet the needs of all learners

  • Determine students’ academic and social emotional learning goals and ensure that they’re met

  • Use the resources of the city and community to create an education that is relevant and real

  • Communicate learning targets and outcomes to colleagues, parents, and students on a regular basis

  • Collect and use data to collaboratively identify goals, assess organizational effectiveness, and promote organizational learning alongside educators

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years experience working in high school classrooms or equivalent experience in inspiring students or young adults to reach their potential

  • Experience in non traditional teaching, ie. Montessori Method, PBL,   (i.e. comfortable with role of a guide)

    • Skilled Observer:

  • Special Education certificate and experience or the equivalent

  • A passion for project based learning and connecting curriculum with life experience.

MENTORS:

ResponsibIlities:

As a Student Mentor volunteer, you will be acting as an Instructional and Personal Coach and providing onsite guidance and focus to our Future Leaders (students) to advance their personal and professional growth and development.

  • Support in designing or customizing experiential, project-based learning arcs for the high school students  to create activities that are relevant to the real-world.

  • Mentor students through individual learning experiences based on each student’s abilities, needs, and learning approach to construct and exhibit core competencies.

  • Support onsite educators in instructional grouping to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Support in determining  high school students’ academic and social emotional learning goals and ensure that they’re met.

Qualifications:

As a Specialist you are a subject matter expert in a particular area with a deep understanding of a particular process, function, skill, technology, machine, material or type of equipment.

You will be acting as a content expert and specialist providing remote guidance and focus in a particular subject area to our Future Leaders (students) to advance their personal and professional growth and development.

Guiding students through individual learning experiences in a specialized subject area.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years experience in a particular area or expertise

  • A passion for experiential learning and connecting instruction with life experience.

COLLEGE AND CAREER COUNSELOR:

ResponsibIlities:

As a Counselor you will help Future Leaders understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through individual and group counseling. Also you may provide individual and small group counseling based on student needs

You will help to develop skills, such as organization, time management, and effective study habits while setting realistic academic and career goals and develop a plan to achieve them. As well as evaluate the abilities and interests through aptitude assessments, interviews, and individual planning

Collaborate with educational team, and parents to help Future Leaders succeed & deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics, such as bullying, drug abuse, and planning for college or careers after graduation. Then refer Future Leaders and parents to resources outside the school for additional support

Identify and report possible cases of neglect or abuse.

INTERNSHIPS AND APPRENTICESHIPS:

ResponsibIlities:

  • Developing and managing an internship, apprenticeship, and work study program for future leaders

  • Identifying organizations to host interns and apprentices

  • Maintaining program materials to provide hosts, students and parents

  • Organizing an application process for interns and apprentices

  • Monitoring  future leader participation and quality of placements

  • Providing a training for future leaders selected for internships to support them with resume writing, interview skills and workplace skills and habits

  • Meeting with future leaders in a group weekly during the internship placement
